SPECIALIZED DERMATOLOGY CONSULTATION

I am a board certified dermatologists and fellow of the Philippine Dermatological Society. I have post graduate fellowships in immunodermatology, specializing in blistering diseases. I am also a internationally board certified dermatopathologist, which means I read and interpret skin biopsy slides to diagnose inflammatory skin diseases and benign and malignant tumors. I have a certification from LearnSkin in Integrative Dermatology, and so I can offer a holistic and integrative approach to help you with your skin, hair and nail concerns. I focus on chronic inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, rosacea, hidradentis suppurativa, seborrheic dermatitis and a variety of conditions. I can also do a complete skin check for you for moles, growths and any possible skin cancers. I can offer help for both pathologic and cosmetic skin improvement. I can also refer you out to the best physicians who specialize in your skin concerns who can work with us to collaborate on getting you to your optimal skin health.

DERMOSCOPY AND
SKIN CANCER CHECKS

The dermoscope is known as the “dermatologists stethoscope”. PDS board certified dermatologists have training in this technology that improved clinical diagnostic accuracy by 30% and bridges the clinical eye and biopsy results. This procedure can detect cancerous moles and skin growths earlier than using the naked eye. I usually do a complete body survey using a dermoscope, to assess your need for a biopsy. If a biopsy shows that your skin lesion may be cancerous I will refer you to the best dermatologic surgeons or Mohs micrographic surgeons to augment your complete skin care. I will teach you the ABCDEs of detecting skin cancersn. I recommend you do a monthly skin self check and a yearly check by a PDS board certified dermatologist.

SKIN BIOPSY

As a board certified dermatopathologist, I can assess your need for a skin biopsy, which is procedure done by PDS board certified dermatologists. A very small piece of skin about 3mm in size will be taken from a locally anesthetized area of skin concern. Biopsies may be done through a cylindrical punch tool, shave with electrodessication, and excisions with sutures. Biopsy of the scalp and nail lesions and tumors may also be done.

CHEMICAL PEELS and
LAYERED PEELS

For pigmentation and for anti ageing and brightening of the skin, and improvement of skin texture. Chemical peels are acids or different combination of chemical exfoliants that are applied directly onto the skin for a limited time, closely monitored and then neutralized. Another peel may be applied on top of another chemical, and this is called a layered peels. Layering may also be done in combination with fractionated resurfacing with a carbon dioxide laser or an Erbium:Yag laser, which will lead to better penetration of the chemicals into the deeper layers of the skin, improving skin texture, wrinkles and fine lines, and improving pigment conditions like melasma, post inflammatory hyperpigmentation and other pigmentary problems.

MICRONEEDLING with TOPICAL EXOSOME OR CUSTOM SOLUTION APPLICATION

A microneedle or multi needle is a head containing anywhere from 5 to 9 pins that can penetrate from 0.25 to 2mm or deeper into the skin. This is done to create microchannels into the skin for better delivery of topical medications. Exosomes are extracellular vesicles without any genetic material that can send signals in your skin to heal disease, improve pigmentation or boost collagen growth to improve wrinkles and fine lines.

MESOTHERAPY with
MICRONEEDLES

The trend now is to inject into the dermis any variety of materials to heal the skin, from polynucleotides from marine DNA extracts , plasma rich platelets and hyaluronic acid based skin boosters. An automated 5 or 9 pin injector with vacuum assist can inject these products at a uniform level into the dermis, the second layer of the skin. A numbing cream can help make the procedure more comfortable. These injections may also be done by hand using a single needle syringe or multi-needles.

FILLERS, SKIN MODULATORS AND SKIN BOOSTER INJECTIONS

A variety of products may be injected into the skin using either needles or cannulas to improve texture and glow (skin boosters with or without hyaluronic acid), biomodulators such as poly L lactic acid and hyaluronic acid fillers of various strengths. I will assess your skin and discuss your needs and goals to have a shared custom treatment plan.

BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS

Botulinum toxin injection (neuromodulators) have been approved for cosmetic use since 2002. Type A botulinum toxin (onabotulinum toxin A) as well as other toxins like incobotulinum toxin, abobutolinum toxin) is injected into the skin and muscles of the face and various parts of the body, temporarily paralyzes muscles of facial expression for 3-4 months. This results in the reduction of wrinkles and fine lines between the brow, on the forehead, and crows feet and even on the neck and jaw (masseter). Over decades botulinum toxin injections have proven to be generally safe and minimally invasive, and is one of the most popular procedures available currently to achieve a fresh relaxed look without significant downtime or side effects.

LASERS AND ENERGY BASED DEVICES

For SKIN TIGHTENING, HAIR REMOVAL, FRACTIONATED RESURFACING, LASER EXCISION OF TUMORS

I have access to a wide range of gold standard lasers and energy based devices in excellent laser centers for many skin applications such as skin tightening for sagging or lax skin (microfocused ultrasound with visualization, high intensity focused ultrasound, radiofrequency), fractionated resurfacing for rough scarred or wrinkled skin (erbium or CO2 lasers), pigment lasers for melasma and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (Q switched NdYag lasers), radiofrequency with microneedling for skin tightening and smoothing, and improvement of wrinkles and scars.

THREAD LIFTING

For patients who are concerned with sagging skin on the face and neck, a safe alternative is thread lifting using a variety of threads, which are absorbable sutures that are composed of polydioxanone (PDO). These threads are dissolvable and biodegradable polyester sutures that anchor into the second layer of the skin to lift and tighten various areas of the face and neck. These threads can tighten and lift skin and lasts for about a year. It requires insertion of the threads with needles or cannulas under topical cream and injected local anesthesia and requires no cutting or surgery. Additional benefits include collagen stimulation to improve texture, pigmentation and skin moisturization.

AUTOLOGOUS MICROGRAFTING TECHNOLOGY FOR HAIR GROWTH

For patients undergoing distress for mild to moderate hair loss (male or female pattern alopecia), Autologous Micrografting Technology® is available for an effective and minimally invasive procedure to improve hair growth in 3 months. This device is designed to disaggregate skin to create concentrated micrografts as injectable solutions rich in your own stem cells, exosomes and growth factors, which is then injected into the scalp with the thinning hair areas. This procedure only requires local anesthesia and minimal down time with very satisfying results.
